Fire incident reported in Istanbul on Monday (04 May)

As per reports, a fire incident occurred in a supermarket warehouse located on Karadeniz Street in the Cibali neighbourhood of Istanbul, within the Fatih district at approximately 1130 hours local time (0830 hours UTC) on Monday (04 May).

• The fire originated for reasons that are currently unknown and prompted the immediate deployment of emergency services, including firefighting units, police, and medical teams.
• The response was initially challenged due to the presence of a local street market operating in the same area, which restricted access to the affected site.
• Market vendors cooperated with authorities by removing their stalls, allowing emergency responders to access the warehouse and conduct firefighting operations. Fire crews subsequently brought the fire under control and carried out cooling operations to prevent re-ignition.
• The incident resulted in material damage to the warehouse structure and stored goods; however, there have been no confirmed reports of casualties.
• Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire, and further assessment may be conducted to determine contributing factors.
