As per reports, clashes were reported between supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Jagaddal area of North 24 Parganas district on Sunday night (26 April).
• The incident reportedly occurred near the Jagaddal police station, where supporters of both parties gathered following tensions linked to alleged removal of political flags and campaign materials. The situation escalated into stone-throwing, crude bomb incidents, and reported firing.
• During the clashes, explosive devices were reportedly thrown at the residence of a BJP candidate in the Bhatpara assembly constituency, resulting in property damage. At least three individuals sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
• Conflicting claims have been made by both parties regarding the sequence of events leading to the violence. Authorities have registered a case in connection with the incident, and additional security forces have been deployed in Jagaddal and nearby areas to prevent further escalation. The situation remains tense with heightened security presence.
