Traffic advisory issued for election process in Kolkata from Tuesday (28 April) to Monday (04 May)

The Kolkata Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for polling and counting days in Kolkata to ensure public safety and convenience. The advisory will be applicable on Tuesday (28 April), Wednesday (29 April) and Monday (04 April).

The following are the additional details:

• Movement of all types of goods vehicles, except those connected with the election process will be restricted to ply within the Kolkata city between 0500 and 2200 hours (local time) on polling day, Wednesday (29 April) and on counting day, Monday (04 May).
• Movement of all types of vehicles including election vehicles will be regulated in the following manner as and when considered necessary by the traffic police, from 0500 to 2200 hours on Tuesday (28 April), Wednesday (29 April) and Monday (04 April):
• The stretch of carriageway (Gitanjali Road) behind the Acropolis Mall and Gitanjali Stadium in between Icchepuran and Santi Pally will be made one way from west to east on distribution day, Tuesday (28 April) and east to west on polling day (29 April). Movement will be restricted on counting day, Monday (04 May).
• Only election related vehicles will be allowed entry between Shantipally and Icchepuran.
• Except election related and property line vehicles, no other vehicles will be allowed enty towards north from the crossing of R B Connector and Santipally, that is, Siemens Crossing.
• Any vehicle intending to go south bound from DPS surroundings towards R B Connector via Santipally will be diverted through the lanes or by lanes.
• From Judges Court Road and Alipore Road Crossing: East bound vehicles will be diverted via north and south bound along Alipore Road. No vehicles will be allowed towards east, except election related and property lines vehicles.
• From Judges Court Road and Baker Road Crossing: North bound and south bound traffic which comes from Baker Road will be diverted towards east. No vehicles will be allowed towards west, except election related and property line vehicles.
• From Harish Mukherjee Road and Hazar Road: From 0700 to 1300 hours (local time), west bound traffic will be diverted towatds north along Harish Mukherjee Road and from 1300 hours (local time), west bound traffic will be diverted towards south along Kalidas Patitundi Lane. From 1300 hours (local time), south bound traffic will be diverted towards east and south. No vehicles will be allowed towards west, except election related and property line vehicles.
• From Hazra Crossing: West bound traffic will be diverted towards northa and south along SPM Road. No vehicles will be allowed towards west.
• Entry of election related vehicles for Hastings House Complex will be via Judges Court Road and exit will be via Alipore Road.
• North bound vehicles along Alipore Road may be diverted from Chetla Central Road and Alipore Road crossing, as and when considered necessary.
• West bound vehicles on P A Shah will be restricted to ply along southern flank from Lake Gardens Road/Haripada Dutta Lane to DPS Road crossing as and when considered necessary.
• Auckland Road will be made ‘No Entry’ from both ends, except for election related and property line vehicles.
• All election related vehicles may enter Auckland Road from All India Road side and exit through Strand Road and Auckland Road crossing on Tuesday and Wednesday (28-29 April).
• Vehicular traffic will be closed along Strand Road from Auckland Road to Kiran Shankar Roy Road crossing as and when considered necessary on Wednesday (29 April) and Monday (04 May).
• Lord Sinha Road may be closed for vehicular traffic as and when considered necessary except for election related and property line vehicles.
• The following traffic measures are applicable from 0500 to 2200 hours (local time) on Monday (04 May):
• North bound vehicles of D H Road may be diverted from the crossing of Ekbalpore Road towards Strand Road and south bound vehicles of D H Road may be diverted from Hastings Crossing as and when considered necessary.
• South bound vehicles alog Raja S C Mallick Road will be restricted to ply along eastern side of Raja S C Mallick Road from crossing of P A Shah to 8B Bus Stand. South bound vehicles will be diverted towards west on P A Shah or east towards Jibananda Setu.
• North bound vehicles along Raja S C Mallick Road will be diverted along Sukanta Setu from Sulekha Crossing and Sulekha More.
• No vehicles other than election related vehicles will be allowed to park on Raja S C Mallick Road between P A Shah Road and Sulekha More.
• Only small vehicles will ply on Biplaby Kanaylal Bhattacherjee Road.
• South bound vehicles along D H Road will be restricted to ply along eastern flank from Thakurpukur PS and Thakurpur Bazar except for election related vehicles for Vivekananda College. These vehicles will be along western flank of D H Road for the above mentioned stretch only.
