As per reports, an “African” low-pressure system is expected to impact Iraq beginning Saturday (18 April), leading to several days of unstable weather conditions including thunderstorms and dust storms.

• The Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology has forecasted rain, lightning, and thunder to intensify through Saturday (18 April) and Sunday (19 April), with central Iraq anticipated to experience the heaviest rainfall.
• Southeasterly winds are expected to reach speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, which may raise dust and cause blowing dust storms across central and southern regions.
• Reports indicate a significant risk of localized flash floods, increased water levels on roads, and resulting traffic congestion, particularly in areas receiving heavy rain.
• Blowing dust is anticipated to reduce visibility and may cause health complications for individuals with respiratory conditions.
