Art exhibition protesting British Museum decision opens in Cairo on Monday (13 April)

As per reports, an art exhibition titled “The Name Palestine” is scheduled to open at the Art Tox Gallery in Cairo on Monday (13 April).

• The event serves as a cultural protest against a recent decision by the British Museum to remove the name “Palestine” from its Near East galleries and replace it with the term “Canaan”. Reports indicate that the exhibition features 28 artists from Egypt and Palestine, with more than half of the participants being Palestinian nationals.
• The exhibition in Cairo is expected to be active as of 0720 hours local time (0520 hours UTC) on Monday (13 April), showcasing symbols of Palestinian heritage and the personal accounts of artists who lost their studios in Gaza.
