Disruption of flight services reported in Adelaide on Thursday (09 April)

As per reports, adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, caused disruptions to flight operations at Adelaide Airport on Thursday (09 April).

Following are the disruptions reported:

• Jetstar flight JQ772, scheduled to arrive in Adelaide, was forced to return to Melbourne shortly before its descent at approximately 1110 hours (local time) due to thunderstorms in Adelaide. The flight landed back in Melbourne shortly after 1300 hours and is currently delayed by approximately five and a half hours, with a revised arrival time of around 1715 hours (local time).
• A Qantas flight scheduled at 1030 hours (local time) bound for Brisbane was forced to divert back to Adelaide after circling in the airspace for approximately one hour.
• At least a dozen other domestic flights arriving and departing from Adelaide have been delayed, while at least one Melbourne-bound flight has been cancelled.
• The disruptions coincide with increased travel demand as more than 200,000 AFL fans are expected to arrive in South Australia for the AFL Gather Round event, scheduled to commence at approximately 1940 hours (local time) at Adelaide Oval.
