As per reports, the bridge across the Koraiyar on the Tiruchi-Madurai Road near Edamalaipattipudur in Tiruchirappalli will be closed for traffic from Friday (03 April), to facilitate the construction of a new bridge. In addition, the District Collector V. Saravanan has stated that the old bridge will be demolished.

• Following the closure of the bridge, all vehicles heading towards the Central Bus Stand from Viralimalai will have to go via Chettiapatti, Edamalaipattipudur, Crawford, and Railway Junction.
• All vehicles headed towards the Integrated Bus Stand at Panjapur from the Central Bus Stand would have to pass via Mannarpuram.
• Meanwhile, the State Highways Department will reportedly take up the construction work, with the construction work expected to be fully completed in about 12 to 15 months, depending on the monsoon season this year.
