Travel restrictions announced for heavy cargo vehicles from Monday (30 March) to 06 April

As per reports, the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTT) has announced nationwide restrictions on the movement of heavy cargo vehicles during the Holy Week period in Venezuela from Monday (30 March) to 06 April.

• The restriction reportedly applies to cargo vehicles exceeding 3,500 kilograms.
• The measure will be in effect from 0100 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) on Monday (30 March) until 0100 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) on 06 April.
• Reports indicate that the restriction forms part of a national road safety operation aimed at reducing traffic risks during the holiday period.
• The directive is implemented in accordance with a decree issued on Friday (27 March) by acting president Delcy Rodríguez, and aligns with Joint Resolution 083 and 022 issued by the Ministries of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, and Transport (Official Gazette No. 42,425).
• The restriction is not scheduled to not apply to vehicles transporting essential goods and services, including perishable and non-perishable food items, raw materials, emergency, police and military units, roadside assistance, telecommunications equipment for national defense, drinking water and water purification chemicals, short-term medical supplies such as oxygen and dry ice, authorized waste collection services, as well as domestic gas and fuel distribution for service stations.
• Authorities have urged transport operators to comply fully with the restrictions to ensure road safety.
