As per reports, Israeli authorities on Sunday (29 March) imposed access restrictions at key religious sites in Jerusalem, preventing senior Christian clergy, including Pierbattista Pizzaballa, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to conduct Palm Sunday liturgy. The incident occurred during Holy Week observances.

• In addition, authorities suspended traditional Palm Sunday processions, including those on the Mount of Olives, in line with restrictions on public gatherings.
• These measures have been implemented within the context of heightened regional security conditions linked to ongoing hostilities involving Israel, the US, and Iran.
• Reports indicate that access to multiple religious sites in the Old City, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex, and the Western Wall, has been restricted or temporarily closed.
