Teachers’ Federation stage protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad on Thursday (26 March)

As per reports, teachers and staff under the Telangana State United Teachers Federation staged a large-scale protest (maha dharna) at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad on Thursday (26 March).

• The protest was led by teachers and staff from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Urban Residential Schools, and Samagra Shiksha programmes.
• Protesters demanded minimum wages, regularisation of services, and implementation of Pay Revision Commission (PRC)-recommended salary increments.
• Demonstrators also called for uniform wage structures for KGBV employees across the country and immediate allocation of additional funds.
• Political representatives present at the protest criticised both Central and State governments and assured that the issue would be raised in the ongoing Assembly session.
• The gathering remained concentrated at Dharna Chowk, with police presence to manage the situation and maintain order; however protest may escalate if demands of the protestors are not met.
