Strong winds and hail risk forecast across Groningen on Wednesday (25 March)

As per reports, unsettled weather conditions are scheduled across Groningen city and Groningen province on Wednesday (25 March), with the most disruptive period expected during the early morning.

• Omroep Organisatie Groningen (OOG) reported that the first part of Wednesday (25 March) is expected to bring rainfall with a risk of hail and strong wind gusts, followed by drier intervals and occasional clear spells later in the afternoon.
• Westerly to northwesterly winds are expected at force four to five, with daytime temperatures around eight degrees Celsius.
• During the night into Thursday (26 March), further rainfall, including possible hail, are expected, with minimum temperatures around two degrees Celsius.
• The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) has issued a Code Yellow warning for Groningen for wind gusts from 0400 hours local time (0300 hours UTC) to 0600 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) on Wednesday (25 March).
• KNMI stated that during showers there is a short-term risk of severe wind gusts of 70 to 80 kilometres per hour in Groningen.
• Conditions are expected to remain unsettled on Thursday (26 March), with additional cold srainfall, a continued chance of hail, northwesterly gusty winds at force four to five, daytime temperatures near seven degrees Celsius, and overnight lows around the freezing point with widespread ground frost.
