Rise in Leptospirosis cases reported in Peru on Sunday (22 March)

As per reports, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed that 1,045 cases of leptospirosis have been registered nationwide on Sunday (22 March). Three deaths have been confirmed in Piura, San Martín, and Tumbes.

Health officials highlight that leptospirosis is endemic in the country, especially in the Amazon and northern regions, with cases increasing between January and March due to heavy rainfall, flooding, and poor sanitation conditions.
