The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms across Uttar Pradesh on Monday (16 March). The areas impacted include Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Gonda, Etah, Budaun, Basti, Aligarh, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bareilly and Pilibhit.
