Orange and yellow alert issued by IMD in parts of Jammu and Kashmir till Friday (20 March)

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow and orange alert for inclement weather conditions in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Following is the detailed weather forecast:

• On Monday (16 March), an orange alert for hailstorm, thunderstorm, lightning and squalls has been issued for all districts except Srinagar, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur and Samba, where a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm, lightning and squalls.
• On Tuesday (17 March), a yellow alert for strong surface winds, thunderstorms, lightning and squalls has been issued in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
• On Wednesday (18 March), no warning has been issued.
• On Thursday (19 March), a yellow alert for strong surface winds, thunderstorms, lightning and squalls has been issued in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
• On Friday (20 March), a yellow alert for strong surface winds, thunderstorms, lightning and squalls has been issued in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
• The National Disaster Management Authority has issued an orange alert indicating a medium-level avalanche risk for areas above 2,600 metres in KUPWARA. Additionally, a yellow alert signalling a low avalanche risk has been issued for locations above 2,800 metres in Baramulla.
