According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) bulletin issued at 1100 hours (local time) on Saturday (27 September), the following updates have been reported:
• During the early hours on Saturday (27 September), Tropical Storm Opong intensified into a Typhoon.
• Opong will bring strong to gale-force gusts to Luzon, Western Visayas and Negros Occidental.
• Latest updates suggest that the eye of the typhoon was estimated to be at 645 km West of Sangley Pt, Cavite City, Cavite, moving west-northwestward at 35 km/h towards Vietnam.
• As per reports on Friday (26 September), at least ten deaths have been reported.
• On Friday (26 September) evening, at least 1220 passengers were left stranded in Western Visayas ports, including cargoes and vessels.
