Description:
As per reports, the update on the Broadway Subway Project is as of Wednesday (08 April) the following:
• From Wednesday (08 April) through Friday (10 April), West Broadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Granville and Hemlock streets from 0800 to 1500 hours (local time). Left turns from West Broadway onto Granville Street are also restricted to support concrete activities.
• Ongoing work to remove a temporary traffic deck and supporting girders has closed East Broadway between Main and Quebec streets. This closure is expected to remain in effect until late May 2026, with buses currently following detours.
• Pacific Boulevard is closed between Smithe Street and Griffiths Way, alongside the Cambie Bridge northbound off-ramp at Pacific Boulevard. This work is scheduled to conclude at 0500 hours on Wednesday (08 April).
Impact:
• Major infrastructure project is set to impact traffic flow in key areas of Vancouver through the end of the week.
• Significant delays are expected during the 0800–1500 window on West Broadway. The restriction of left turns onto Granville Street—a major north-south arterial—will likely cause spillover congestion on adjacent streets such as Hemlock and Fir.
• Commercial deliveries and service providers targeting the Granville-Broadway corridor will likely experience restricted access and increased transit times. The long-term closure between Main and Quebec continues to disrupt east-west logistics across the city.
• TransLink bus routes (including the 9 and 99 B-Line) are subject to detours and schedule delays due to the girder removal work on East Broadway and lane reductions on West Broadway.
