Description:
As per reports, a wildfire has been reported in the Líl̓wat Nation, located east of the Pemberton Regional Airport (CYPS) near Mount Currie as of Tuesday (07 April).
• The British Columbia Wildfire Service (BCWS) reported that the fire was burning uncontrollably at approximately 100 hectares as of 2000 hours local time (0300 hours UTC on 08 April). The wildfire is suspected to be human-caused and was first identified on Tuesday (07 April).
• As of 2200 hours local time (0500 hours UTC on 08 April), the fire has reportedly spread rapidly due to strong winds and dry vegetation, particularly across grass and hay fields; however, no residential structures have been reported destroyed, although minor property damage has occurred.
• However, approximately 2,000 customers experienced power outages beginning at 0330 hours local time (1030 hours UTC) on Tuesday (07 April), with restoration completed by 1600 hours local time (2300 hours UTC) on Tuesday (07 April).
