Description:

As per reports, as of Thursday (09 April), coordinated armed attacks by suspected bandits and jihadist-linked groups resulted in the deaths of at least 60 people across multiple villages in Kebbi State and Niger State.

• The violence affected at least ten villages, including Erena in Shiroro Local Government Area, where around 20 fatalities were reported following an attack on Tuesday (07 April).
• In Kebbi State, local sources estimate over 40 people were killed in separate raids.
• The attackers reportedly used sophisticated weapons, targeted civilians indiscriminately, and destroyed homes, religious sites, livestock, and food supplies.
• Displacement has been significant, with approximately 500 residents fleeing to safer areas such as Yauri town.
• Authorities have linked some attacks to jihadist factions, including groups affiliated with Ansaru, highlighting a growing convergence between banditry and extremist activity.
• The situation remains highly volatile, with continued risk of further attacks and limited security control in remote areas.
