Locations Affected: Saratoga Springs, New York, United States, Saratoga
Tracking Id: RINTP3659267388
Description:
As per reports, the 39th annual Victorian Streetwalk in Saratoga Springs, NY, will necessitate extensive road closures and parking restrictions in the downtown area on Thursday (04 December).
• The festivities run from just before 1800 hours to 2100 hours (local time).
• Road closures will begin at 1700 hours and are expected to be in effect until between 2300 hours and 0000 hours (midnight).
• Closures will affect Broadway (from Spring St to Van Dam St/Arterial) and numerous intersecting streets, including Caroline Street, Division Street, Lake Avenue, and Washington Street.
• Parking will be prohibited on both sides of Broadway (Spring St to Van Dam St) and Washington Street, as well as the south side of Church Street and Lake Avenue.
Impact:
• The widespread road closures and parking restrictions affecting the main artery, Broadway and numerous downtown cross streets (1700 hours to midnight) are expected to cause operational uncertainties for retail, restaurant, and service businesses within the core downtown area during the critical Thursday evening trade window.
• The sweeping closures will impede commercial deliveries, field service calls, and vendor access to the downtown area practically impossible between 1700 hours and midnight.
• The parking enforcement begins at 1500 hours (two hours before closures begin), and violating vehicles will be towed.
• The diversion of traffic from Broadway and key intersecting streets will likely overwhelm adjacent, non-closed routes, creating secondary congestion.
Recommendations:
It is advised to follow the official website of the Saratoga Springs Police Department (https://www.saratoga-springs.org/2648/Police-Department) for further information about the closure, and to use real-time navigation services for alternative route planning.
