Description:

As per reports, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded approximately 55 kilometres south of Chirilagua, La Unión Department, and approximately 83 kilometres south of San Miguel, El Salvador, on Wednesday (08 April).

The earthquake was recorded at 0443 hours local time (1043 hours UTC) at a depth of 37 kilometres, classifying it as a shallow-focus event, and the epicentre was located at 12.740 degrees North, 88.260 degrees West.

Impact:

No reports of structural damage, casualties, or operational disruptions on the Salvadoran mainland have been received at the time of writing.

The possibility of aftershocks in the vicinity of the epicentre cannot be ruled out.
