Impact Level: Notification
Locations Affected: Metro Manila, Philippines
Tracking Id: RINTP4475264619
Description:
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather forecast indicating cloudiness, scattered rains and thunderstorms across several regions on Thursday (04 December). The following are the additional details:
• Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected across Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Moderate to at times heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods or landslides in susceptible areas.
• Cloudy skies with rainfall are forecast in Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Kalinga and Aurora under the influence of the Northeast Monsoon, with similar risks of flash floods or landslides during sustained rainfall.
• The remainder of the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains from the Northeast Monsoon, with no significant impact expected on movement or operations.
• Metro Manila and the rest of the country will observe partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localised convective activity, with flash floods or landslides possible during severe thunderstorms.
Impact:
Scattered rainfall and thunderstorms in southern Mindanao and monsoon-affected provinces in Northern Luzon may lead to localised flooding, reduced visibility and disruptions to road travel. Localised downpours in Metro Manila and other regions may create slippery roads and brief drainage overflow. Light rainfall in monsoon-influenced areas of Northern Luzon is not expected to significantly impact operations or mobility.
