Description:
As per reports, a gas leak incident occurred in the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) coal project area of Kendua, Dhanbad, on Wednesday (03 December), resulting in the death of a child and at least 12 others falling sick.
The gas reportedly leaked behind the Kenduadih Police Station, affecting residents of Rajput Basti, Masjid Mohalla, and Number 05 Mohalla.
• More than ten ambulances were deployed after complaints were received, and patients have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
• Locals reported a thick layer of fog in the morning and experienced symptoms such as fainting, vomiting, headaches, and breath-related issues. Some birds reportedly died due to the gas.
• Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has not provided the exact reason for the leak, but initial reports suggest it was linked to a fire incident on Tuesday (02 December).
• Dhanbad Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Raj Sinha visited the affected area and assured that necessary steps are being taken to control the leakage.
• Additionally, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) management issued a notice to residents to immediately vacate the affected areas.
