Description:

As per reports, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned any kind of public gatherings such as meetings, rallies, mass gatherings, and processions in parts of Dhaka from Saturday (10 May), under Section 29 of the Police Ordinance 1976.

• These include the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the Honorable Chief Advisor, Jamuna, and the surrounding areas of Hotel Intercontinental, Kakrail Mosque, Officers Club, and Mintu Road.
• The order was given in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat ​​Ali, and the order will remain in effect from Saturday (10 May) until further notice.

Impact:

Authorities will continue to closely monitor the situation, and any violations of the order may result in penalties. Increased vigilance is expected in and around the affected areas of Dhaka until further notice or until the restrictions are officially lifted.
