Description:
As per reports, several airports across India reported check-in system disruptions on Wednesday (03 December) morning. During the disruptions, flight services of IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air and Air India Express were impacted.
The disruption was attributed to the global Microsoft Windows outage. The Delhi Airport Authority also issued an advisory alerting passengers to potential flight delays. Further details are awaited.
Impact:
Flight delays are likely to persist throughout the day as the airline works to realign its operations in response to the wider disruption affecting its services. Adjustments to aircraft rotations, crew availability, and ground handling processes may lead to prolonged waiting times and revised departure and arrival schedules.
More than usual number of passengers at the affected airports cannot be ruled out, particularly as travellers await updated flight information or rebooking options. Congestion may occur at check-in counters, security checkpoints, boarding gates, and airline service desks, potentially leading to longer queues and increased waiting periods.
Recommendations:
Travellers are advised to check directly with their respective airlines before planning or commencing their journey, as schedules may be subject to sudden changes, delays, or cancellations. Verifying flight status in advance can help avoid inconvenience and allow passengers to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans.
