Description:
As per reports, Mercedes-Benz International School (MBIS) located in Hinjewadi area of Pune, recieved a bomb threat email on Wednesday (03 December) morning.
The principal of the school had received an email warning of a bomb explosion on the school premises.
• Authorities promptly evacuated the school premises and sent students home.
• The Pimpri Chinchwad police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) had launched a thorough search across the campus.
• The contents of the email were reviewed and no suspicious objects have been discovered yet. Meanwhile, officials stated that reviewing of the contents of email suggests that it is similar to the hoax bomb threat emails received by some prominent educational institutions in Pimpri Chinchwad in the past.
Impact:
The investigation and search on school premises may still be underway. Police cordons near the school may impede traffic movement and induce commute delays in the Hinjewadi area.
Additionally, priority lanes for movement of emergency vehicles may result in localised disruptions to public transport, goods movement and logistics.
Recommendations:
It is advised to monitor local news, avoid the vicinity of the school and to account for additional travel time.
