Description:

As per reports, since around 0900 hours (local time) on Wednesday (03 December), an encounter has been ongoing between security forces and Maoists along the Bijapur-Dantewada inter-district border in the West Bastar Division area of Chhattisgarh.

During the prolonged exchange of fire, the security forces recovered the bodies of 12 Maoist cadres following prolonged exchange of fire. Three District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel from Bijapur were killed in the operation. Moreover, the security forces also seized Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) rifles, .303 rifles, and a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition from the site.

Background:

The encounter occurred during a coordinated anti-Maoist search operation involving teams from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Bijapur and Dantewada, the Special Task Force (STF), the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Impact:

Authorities confirmed that the operation remains ongoing, with the area fully cordoned off for continued search efforts. Identification of the deceased Maoists is underway.
